Two Ashburn Village women’s tennis teams won the Virginia State Championship at the 2.5 & 3.5 levels.  

AVSP tennis professionals, Ken Whitaker, Branden Beets and Albert , attended the tournament and supported these teams with their coaching styles, mental strategies and inspirational songs.

This was the first season for the Loudoun League and one other Ashburn team, sponsored by NCC, also won at the women’s 3.0 level. Many of the players on this team hold Non-Resident Tennis Memberships.   

The Ashburn Village 2.5 team and the Slice Girls, the Ashburn Village 3.5 team, will be representing the state of Virginia at the Sectional tournament later this month against Washington DC, Maryland and West Virginia.

The AVSP-sponsored 3.5 Women’s Team, The Sweetshots, won the Virginia District Championship the wekkend of July 14-15. The team will now compete in a sectional championship against teams from Maryland, West Virginia and DC. If they are successful, they’ll compete in a National Championship event in Las Vegas.
